Aberfeldy is the only distillery built by the Dewar family. Initially intended as an ingredient for their Blended Scotch, our team of 12 operators craft a Single Malt with fruity and honeyed aromas.

Aberfeldy is known as The Golden Dram due to the alluvial gold that is rumoured to lie in our water source, the Pitilie Burn. We use 7.5 tons of lightly malted barley per batch and allow a gentle fermentation over 70 hours to give plenty of time for sweet, fruity flavour development. Our tall stills are heated slowly for plenty of copper contact to retain these bright flavours.

Aberfeldy is usually matured in a range of cask types giving complexity. This whisky also has approachable orange and honey flavours when young and over time subtle floral and spiced aromas can emerge. Look out for interesting finishes such as Madeira or red wine that complement our house style perfectly.

Every year we release an expression of Aberfeldy finished in a different red wine cask. Each cask adds different fruit and oak flavours to our delicate spirit.

In 2022 our Malt Master, Stephanie Macleod selected red wine casks from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany. This fascinating area is home to the Super Tuscans which use international grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines feature blackberry and dark cherry flavours alongside strong oak influence that stand up to the more mature flavours in older Aberfeldy.

Damaged packaging/contents

Damaged packaging which was delivered by DHL even though it had handle with care Fragile on the outer box due to poor handling of the parcel, the bottom of the box was open and the decorative presentation tin was all dented , very disappointing as the item was a gift for a special birthday. Dewar's have changed their packaging to recycled paper which we feel didn't give the products adequate protection unlike our previous orders which were securely packaged upon contacting Dewars the 2nd lady which dealt with our complaint gave a swift, second to none level of customer care service and replaced the presentation tin for us. Dewar's provide an easy, swift service supplying quality products. We feel this negative experience was out of their control, we will order again from them. Thank you
