One for the sherry lovers

Royal Brackla is a great whisky. The 12yo has all the great Highland characteristics you would expect but this expression is dominated by the influence of the sherry cask maturation. Now, I love the complexity that a sherry cask can bring to any whisky but, for me, this is maybe a little too heavy on the sherry notes. Not enough spiciness and too much of the sweetness for my taste. But that does not mean it’s not a good whisky. It’s all down to preference and it is definitely one I would turn to on a cold winters evening when the nights are drawing in and I want a wee bit of comfort in a glass.
