Biography

Audrey lived in the Scottish Borders for 20 years. She worked as a police officer there for 10 years before studying at Heriot Watt University in Galashiels for a BA(Hons) Degree in textile design.  As a self-employed printed textile designer, her artwork sold to studios in the UK, Europe and the USA. In 1999 Audrey moved to Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire.
However, her first love is to paint and for the last 20 years she has concentrated on developing her paintings. Her main inspiration is the Scottish landscape with a focus on Highland Perthshire where she looks for a strong contrast between light and shade and interprets the constantly changing colours and moods of the seasons and weather in bright hues in acrylic. Paintings are informed by her personal experience of walking in the landscape and sketches and photographs help with ideas. Many of her paintings are of close to middle distance views as she likes to have bold areas of structure in her painting, whether manmade or natural.
Audrey had her own Gallery in The Square, Aberfeldy for five years where she successfully exhibited solely her own artwork. She has now relocated to her studio and small exhibition space at her home in Aberfeldy. Visitors are welcome to view paintings, prints, cards, and other gifts, please check the website for opening times, or to arrange an appointment. Her work has been exhibited at various Scottish Art Galleries and Art Shows, she takes part annually in Perthshire Open Studios and paintings are in many private collections in the UK, Europe, USA and Australia.
